This Special Discussion Forum was developed in conjunction with the presentation of a special 13 week series, entitled CREDO 13, on Maimonides' Principles of Faith that orginally aired in Ontario, in Spring 2005, on Sunday evenings, at 10:00 pm, on CTS. While this Discussion Forum is presented in connection with this program, viable participation in it is not limited to those who have seen the show.

The Thirteenth Principle is a belief in the ultimate resurrection of the dead. i.e. an ultimate re-unification of body and soul. What this means and the circumstances regarding this re-unification, however, is a matter of disagreement with Rambam being in the centre of the controversy. The idea of resurrection implies a value to the body with which Rambam would seem to have a difficulty. Thus Rambam was actually accused of not believing in this principle even as he formulated it. Rambam responded with a very narrow perception of Resurrection, specifically focusing on it as a part of the procedure of the final judgement. Others, of course, understood resurrection to reflect the final state of eternal humanity.
