Seventh Principle

7. I believe with perfect faith that the prophecy of Moses is absolutely true. He was the chief of all prophets, both before and after Him. (from the Ani Ma'amin)

  1. The Seventh Principle is that Moses' Prophecy is Unique. Fundamental to the Jewish commitment to Sinai is the idea that the Revelation at Sinai establishes an eternal commitment. To meet this objective, it is necessary to define Sinai as unique so that no subsequent claim of revelation can be deemed to supersede Sinai. It is the qualitatively distinct nature of Moses's prophecy that confirms this uniqueness of the Revelation at Sinai.

  2. n the one hand, Moshe's ability to be humble is shocking. How could a man with so crucial a role avoid haughtiness? Yet, Moshe stood perhaps closer to God than any other man. At such a close distance to God, I would think an unprecedented level of humility would naturally follow. Is it reasonable for us to hope to attain a level of humility comparative to Moshe's if we have never had the opportunity to be exposed to God in the same way?
