Fifth Principle

5. I believe with perfect faith that it is only proper to pray to G-d. One may not pray to anyone or anything else. (from the Ani Ma'amin)

  1. The Fifth Principle is that only God is to be worshipped. In declaring that only God is to be worshipped, Rambam, in this principle is challenging the concept of intermediaries. God directly relates to the human being and so the human being can directly relate to God. Inherent within this statement is a futher principle -- the very fact that God relates to humanity. The God of Torah is not the god of Aristotle.
