Ninth Principle

9. I believe with perfect faith that this Torah will not be changed, and that there will never be another given by G-d. (from the Ani Ma'amin)

  1. The Ninth Principle is that the Torah is Eternal. Simply, this principle asserts that the Torah will not be changed, i.e. that the Revelation at Sinai has everlasting authority. This flows from the Seventh Principle that Moses' Prophecy is unique; if there can never be a prophet like Moses, there can never be a revelation to rival Sinai. Does this, however, mean that the Torah is static and not dynamic? Through the Halachic process there would also seem to be a dynamic nature to Torah as we welcome the idea of chiddush, new thoughts within Torah. The challenge is to define the correct balance.
